The Rev. Carl Green was born and raised in Barbados, West Indies. At sixteen years of age he became a Christian and was blessed to have a pastor who immediately began training him to be active in his walk with the Lord. His training for the ministry continued in England, where he lived for 17 years.
After coming to America, he became an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God, and continued working with “the last, the least, and the lost” in homeless shelters and missions here in the Charleston area. While part of the 5 fold ministry team at Agape Ministries, he took over the Institutional Ministries, going into hospitals, nursing homes and educational facilities in Charleston, as well as prisons all over South Carolina with a team of about a dozen lay ministers. When he relocated to St. James Church, he continued the ministry as an outreach from St. James becoming John 8:36 Ministries.
Because of the great area of need, the prison ministry takes most of the time, and it is a blessing to still be in contact with men and women in more than 30 states who found the Lord as their Savior while incarcerated. Many of these folks are now working in ministries of their own, extending the kingdom of God.
