In Exodus 25 we find God's commandment to the children of Israel:

"Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring me an offering: of every man that giveth it willingly with his heart ye shall take my offering........And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them."

We used Eric J. Bouchoc's Book and Video, The Tabernacle, to learn that God told his people to make a great tent, or "Tabernacle" that was set up right in the middle of the Jewish camp.  We showed pictures of what a Tabernacle might look like - the bronze altar where animals were sacrificed and the bronze basin where the priests could wash.  The priests made sacrifices for their sins and for the sins of the people and every day sacrifices were burned on the altar.

Hebrews tell us that Jesus is better than the old covenant sacrifices.  Because Jesus willingly sacrificed his own blood for us, we now have a perfect, once for all, sacrifice. Because he willingly gave up his life for us, we are redeemed and sanctified.  No further sacrifices are necessary.
