What a great lesson from John 20:19-31. Jesus has risen from the grave and now he appears to his disciples. Imagine how frightened they were when he suddenly appeared in the room where they were hiding behind locked doors! One disciple, Thomas, was not there. When the other disciples told him about Jesus, he did not believe them. He insisted he would have to see and touch the scars on Jesus' body before he would believe. Jesus appeared eight days later and let Thomas do exactly that. But his words to Thomas are also words for us, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."

Dressed up in Bible times costumes, waving palms, and following the donkey, we celebrated the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. Then we continued our series on prayer by making prayer pillow cases. Ms. Lori sewed 40 pillow cases for us to decorate. One side reminds us to pray as soon as we wake up in the morning to give thanks for the new day. The other side is for the evening, when we are ready for bed. We give thanks for our blessings of the day and ask God to watch over us at night. A prayer journal tucked inside lets us record our thoughts and special  time with God.

We heard Paul pray from prison for the Gentile Christians in Ephesians. He prayed that they would be strengthened by the Holy Spirit.  We know Paul's prayer is for us, also.  So, how are we like a flashlight? Well, when we believe in Jesus he sends his Holy Spirit to dwell in us. It's sort of like how a battery can make a flashlight come to life.  But just because the battery is there, doesn't mean the light comes on. What has to happen? We have to turn it on. So after we receive the Holy Spirit, we must let our light shine by our words and actions every day.
