WORSHIP FULLY, SPEND LESS, GIVE MORE, LOVE ALL

How can Christmas still change the world? Advent has taught us four ways we can make a difference.  We can worship fully right here in our own church.  We can sing our praises to God and we can thank God for all our blessings.  We can pray for others. We can ask and receive forgiveness for our sins.  This Christmas we can spend less on ourselves and give more to those who are in real need.  And we can love all.  Love all even if they are different from us.  Love all even when some are mean to us.

This Advent season, let your love change the world.

ADVENT

CHRISTMAS CAN STILL CHANGE THE WORLD!

Check out one of our beautiful Chrismon trees!  We've added two different ornaments so far. The shell symbolizes the water of baptism. On Sunday we made crowns.  A crown is the symbol of royal power and authority representing the majesty and royalty of Christ.  It symbolizes Jesus as King of the Jews.   Revelation 4:10 says, "They lay their crowns before the throne and say: 'You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power.'"

What ornament will we make this Sunday?  Come to KidZone at 10am to find out!

CHRISMONS AND ADVENT

Do you know what a "Chrismon" is?  We do!  It comes from two words: Christ and monogram. Chrismons are Christian symbols representing Jesus Christ.   Now, what does "Advent" mean?  Our dictionary tells us it is the arrival of a notable person, thing or event.  And whose arrival are we expecting?  Jesus, of course!  During Advent our kids will make a different Chrismon each week.  This week, we began with the sea scallop shell.  What does that symbolize?  Well, if you ask any child who was in KidZone on Sunday, you will find out it represents water and pilgrimage.  Pilgrimage because pilgrims on their way to the holy land would often use a shell as a drinking vessel. But even more importantly, it represents the water of baptism.

Check out our pictures to see the beautiful shell ornaments we made. Kids will bring home their Chrismons after their program on Christmas Eve.  What program?  Check out all the upcoming events by clicking here for CSPnews.

ACCEPTABLE WORSHIP - HEBREWS 13

To the Jewish person, the Old Covenant detailed what acceptable worship was.  The writer of Hebrews showed that Jesus established a New Covenant with his people. So the question was left: Then how do we offer God acceptable worship? (You can see this question in Hebrews 12:28.) This last chapter of the book of Hebrews explains what acceptable worship looks like.  Here are some ways:

Be kind to all as some may be angels.  Do not forget to do good and share with others. We should not be afraid.  Remember the Lord is our Helper. God said he would never leave us.
