JESUS CARED FOR HIS MOTHER
"He said to his mother, 'Dear woman, here is your son,' and to the disciple, 'Here is your mother.' From that time on, this disciple took her into his home." John 19:26-27
In The Gospel of John movie, we again heard words from Jesus as he was dying on the cross. This time Jesus' love is directed toward his mother. He knows as a widow and the mother of a crucified criminal, life will not be easy for her. In the midst of his own agony, his heart goes out to her and he appoints John to care for her when he is gone. What do we learn from these words from the cross? We are to love our family - especially our parents. And we have responsibilities to our family. Jesus fulfilled these obligations as he was dying. Jesus once again sets the example for us. We are to love as Jesus loved.
NEXT WEEK: The Gospel of John movie continues. We see and hear Jesus' words from the cross. What do his words teach us this week? Join us at 10am in the KidZone to find out.
