"Father, forgive them. They know not what they do." Luke 23:34
Jesus, who had done nothing wrong, was being crucified when he said these words! Who was he talking to? The soldiers? The crowd? The chief priests? Pilate? Yes, he was forgiving all of them, but more than that, he was forgiving you and me.
Forgiving someone means to feel love and kindness for that person, even though they have done something to hurt us. Sometimes, it means we have to change our angry feelings toward that person to kind ones. When we forgive them, we do not want to hurt them or get back at them. We are kind to them even if they are not kind to us. We forgive them because Jesus forgives us.
